The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a national leader in the areas of rescue, adoption, welfare, and has worked tirelessly for over 150 years to put an end to animal abuse and neglect. The ASPCA is working to give all animals the best possible lives and has shelters with adoptable pets nationwide.

My challenge was to develop an app that would expand the reach of the ASPCA's work and allow a younger target to donate their time and energy to giving back to shelter animals. My strategy was to create an app similar to popular match-making sites and allow users to connect one on one with shelter dogs in their area. Targeting an 18-30 age range users may not have the means to adopt a pet at the moment, but still want to spend time with shelter pets.

My goal was to give the ASPCA a platform to engage in their local community with people who love animals as much as they do. Doggy Date allowed users to connect to a dog in their local shelter and then allowing them to walk the dogs, foster, have playdates at the shelter, or eventually adopt. The app had two sides: one for the user and one for the shelter. A user would set up a profile with their age, availability, and what they would be interested in doing with the shelter dogs. The shelter side would build a profile for each dog available, and then allow the animals to be matched to users based on similar needs. Dates would be set within Doggy Date's chat feature and allow date schedules to be made with dog matched. Within the chat computer generated prompts would read as if they were being sent by excited dogs ready to meet their perfect match.
